Usually I do, but it was a little too hot today so I kept my engine running with the a/c on.

Any baw keep their engine on while pumping gas?

I keep it on while pumping at Costco to give the attendant something to do other than being overly helpful.

Yes but I also don't gas up until a good bit past the E so I'm sure it's necessary for me.

Almost never turn my engine off while filling up. Only if I'm going inside the station while I do it.

No.

With newer vehicles, I think there's almost no risk of explosion.

Wasn't there a myth busters episode about this? I can't remember.

Not turning your engine off while filling is trashy.

Yes I do.

I also make my kid unbuckle in case something goes wrong.

As she says “..I know daddy, in case it goes up in flames.”

They did the cell phone while pumping gas thing. They couldn’t figure out a way to make it explode even when going way overboard with a 15 watt Ham transmitter or something. Pretty funny how every gas station bought into the myth though. I remember the big No Cell Phone signs. Had a lady at a RaceTrak in Bossier shut down all the pumps because I wouldn’t put my phone away while pumping. Dumb bitch.

*They traced the whole myth back to people going in and out of the car while pumping and building static electricity thus causing a spark. That is why you are supposed to touch the car after exiting (to ground yourself) before grabbing the pump handle again.

Probably a good idea to turn engine off while filling up. A lot of newer cars will give you a check engine light due to an emissions error code if doing so.
