Nope. Definitely not when it’s been consistently over 100 degrees

Only if my kid was sleeping. The vibration kept him asleep. And turning the car off and On always has all the beeping and whatnot.

I only turn it off if the kids and my pitbull are in the car with the windows up. Need to prepare them for my drinking nights when I cant find a baby sitter.

They traced the whole myth back to people going in and out of the car while pumping and building static electricity thus causing a spark.

Yep, using a cellphone won't do anything, but getting in and out of your car while pumping can because of the static electricity.

And how fat are your guys that you need to keep your car running for 5 minutes while you pump gas because of the AC?

I’m usually listening to sports talk. I leave the door half opened so I can hear.

Nope.

My dad never did and so i grew up seeing it like that.

I have done it rarely since i was 15 and now I’m in my late 30s.

I don’t understand why it’s even something people say to do.

I haven’t done it very much in over 2 decades and nothing has ever happened

I understand this. My question was for the posters who said it's hot, so they leave their car on. If what I'm listening to on the radio is interesting, I leave my car on with the window down as well.

I leave mine running, it's no different than someone pulling up next to you while pumping.

Nope and if I want to smoke,I smoke. You can drop a lighted cig in a bucket of gas and it will go out the same as a bucket of water. Real life ain’t the movies.

I usually turn it off but sometimes I don't. So in summary, most of the time but not always.

Of course you can. Light up a cig next to the spout where the fumes are and see what happens. Its all about concentration.
