Nope. I also don’t stand by the pump while it’s pumping. I get back in the vehicle.

So then the new efficient engines that turn off when the car comes to a stop must be horrible, yes?

Yes.

I'd wager that that one off/on cycle once every couple weeks is minimal in terms of overall wear and tear.

Agreed. This is a stupid thing to discuss. Do whatever you want to do. In the grand scheme of life, engine wear, and fume cloud explosions, it's totally irrelevant.

A guy on YT tested this in relation to auto stop/start. He concluded that if you stop for 7 to 10 seconds, it's worth it to stay running. Anything longer saves gas.

I'll check out a link if you got it and may change my behavior based on the findings. That's interesting!

Vapors are probably more prevalent while it's running.

Vapors come from the fuel cap area.

I’m not opposed to leaving it running, but be sure it’s locked. Vehicles are stolen daily while the driver is fueling it.

How does someone steal your car with you right there next to it?

There is no reason not to.

Easy. Be more committed to taking it than you are to keeping it.

I've never left my vehicle running while pumping gas. It's just natural to turn the engine off when I get out.

That can happen whether it's running or not but what man is going to let somebody steal his car while he is gassing it up and just watch it happen?
