Gold has historically been stolen from US citizens by the government with the threat of imprisonment. So, you “own” it but not nearly as much as you own your gun. The hierarchy is pretty evident.

Bitcoin can actually be owned without that veiled implication of violence.

So in summary, you can own bitcoin and you can own a gun. And you can also own things that the gun allows you to own.

If you have the means to defend and reject all attempts by anyone who would try to exercise authority over your land, then, sure, you own it and no one can make you pay anything for it. If you are enjoying the protection of a government and its attendant military, police and civil functions protecting the physical integrity of your land/house from any others who do not have the recognized ownership that you have, then that comes at a cost. You are subject to that sovereign and have certain responsibilities as a result. If you can’t meet those responsibilities, then your land will eventually be auctioned and transferred to someone who can meet those responsibilities (with you receiving the balance after taxes are paid, it’s not just taken from you without compensation).

Would you? Even if he got top value it would still be less than 2K. Most of these sales are private cash deals. I doubt him or anybody else would claim or report it. Maybe if he has it insured or something like that. But I don't see how it would come up..

I sold a couple dozen eagles a few years back and walked out with a couple grand. I just invested it in other coins..

You own your house or car or boat if you have fully paid for it.
I, or anyone else, can't go take any of those from you without being arrested.

The government is just looking for ways to tax its citizens to pay for roads and services, etc.
Would it make a difference to you if they took away property taxes and just added the same to sales taxes and or income taxes?

Now, to question why all taxes are as high as they are, that's an entirely different subject that I bet we both agree on.
