Do you travel for work?

I will be starting a new job in a month or so, and I will basically be gone 3-4 weeks at a time with a week of R&R at the end of each trip. My father-in-law is gone probably 330 days a year, so my fiance' is used to it.
My question is, does it take a toll on you. What is the shelf life for someone traveling so much? It is usually 2-3 years before this position moves to an office.

330 days is insane. How much are you potentially traveling? And what kinds of places?
It definitely takes a toll. Longer stints make it tougher, too. Planning on kids quickly or what?

I travel 4 days a week a couple times a month. It's difficult to leave a crying wife, but you just stay tough. Going to sleep in hotels isn't always easy.

For me, two years was plenty. It sounds like fun to some people, and can actually be, but it certainly takes a toll.
What kind of travel and to what locations means a ton.
For me, the challenge of finding decent, somewhat healthy food and getting quality sleep took a toll. Airport food.
Get this out of your way before kids, if that's in the cards for you.

I travel MAYBE one week a month and it is tough on the wife and kids. Nothing more heartbreaking than your kid telling you that they cried last night because you weren't there to tuck them in. But, I make more money in a week of travel than I do in two months working close to home.....so, it has to be done.

To answer your question it all depends on where you're traveling to
If you're traveling to California you'll probably like it. If you're traveling to North Dakota I'd look for a suicide hotline to call

Once a quarter, a day trip by plane.
Once a quarter, a car trip for 3 days.
Any more than that is too much, IMO.

All the time, but it's usually a fly in and out deal the same day or spend one night in a hotel. Don't mind it at all

I did it for 5 years, then got promoted and now I don't travel as much. Before I was living the bachelor life with few friends and all that bullshite. One year I traveled at least 300 days.

Yes but not like you're talking about, I spend months on jobsite away from home living in hotels, been doing it all my working life. I sleep better in a motel than at home
