Do You Tip Your Uber/Lyft Driver?

Working in the service industry in my college days has always had the gut inclination to tip whenever I am prompted to.
However, when it comes to the Lyft/Uber, I do not tip.
What say the OT?

If they sit there like a lump on a log, I don’t tip.
If they are a good conversationalist and have phone chargers in the backseat, yes I tip well.
Not much gray area for me.

Yes. I try to tip service workers pretty generously unless they suck.

It's not entirely their fault, but it's tough to tip when it takes 15 minutes to get a car then it's $20 to go 3 miles.

It's not their fault at all. It means they had to drive 15 minutes to pick you up for free.

Back before Uber hiked up their prices and started surge pricing at the airport, venues, and other popular attractions I would tip for good service. Last 4 times I’ve been ubering home from the airport it’s been between $80-120. I live 25 miles from the airport. The drivers shouldn’t have bargained for higher wages because now I don’t tip since my costs for rides has more than doubled.

I add an additional tip if I am in a hurry and they get me there on time. I also add a tip if I am being obnoxious by talking on the phone or if they are nice. One of those usually happens. It’s rare I don’t tip, but I don’t do it as a hard and fast rule.

I tip when being hauled around the city unless some obnoxious surge is going on. Airport runs don’t get a tip due to $50-80 charge for a 10 mile ride.

Depends on the driver. If they ask me what music I want to listen to, offer me a water, have phone charger accessible in back, or offer interesting banter? Then yes, I tip them.
If they just play their shitty music or are annoying, then no.

I never tip on the app. I tip cash, $5 , whether its one mile or ten miles.
