Do you tip painters?

Got the exterior painted a couple days ago. Made it home as the painters were finishing. I had paid the project head guy already that day via credit card. Walked around, told them they did a great job, shook their hand, etc. Felt like there was an awkward moment as if they were waiting on something, but then they packed up and left.
Been sorta wondering ever since if I should’ve offered something? Do you tip a project type thing like this? I feel sorta bad if I missed something here.

It wouldn't even cross my mind.
ETA - I worked for a general contractor while in school. I didn't recieve nor expect a tip in those two summers.

Yes, you have to tip the painters. You should also tip the person that you bring over to get a second opinion on the paint job.
Then you should tip your neighbors for having to look at the new paint job.

The OT regularly brings up tips in situations that wouldn't even register for me. We had one a few weeks ago about tipping movers so they don't break your shite.
I assumed that was included in the price I was quoted.

No. I own a painting and remodeling company and I have and had employees receive tips, I don't why they would hang around expecting it. I wouldn't take a whole crew though a walkthrough either.
