No I don’t tip at all. That is a stupid American custom established by the restaurant / bar industry mafia. It was done to subsidize the workers because the restaurants refuse to pay their workers.

Depends on whether I think they went out of their way to do a better job for me than the norm. Of course, I always leave an ice chest of soft drinks and water for any group of service personnel that I have around my place, so they almost always go out of their way to do an excellent job for me.

Never heard of tipping painters. But then again, people from NYC tip the fricking mailman every Christmas.
