I have heard that agreement before but I don’t buy that I would get worst service. If you don’t want to/ can’t fulfill that the duties of your job, then quit. Why should waiters and waitresses have any less integrity than any other job position? If you don’t do your job properly , you deserve to get fired. Why should you need financial incentive in the service industry to preform your job properly? I support them making minimum wage of course but I feel that fee should be include with the price of food.

I've never thought of doing it that way but it kind of makes sense. If you know your bill will be around $100 go ahead and give the server $5 up front so that she takes good care of you.

Ahh, so take it out on the servers. Like you not tipping is going to start some wave to increase servers' wages.
You're not hurting the restaurant at all, just the lowly server who relies on tips to pay bills. You're so rational and enlightened.

I need financial incentive to perform my job that isn't in the service industry. That's why it's a job. I'm doing it for money. Financial motivation and the prospect of financial reward (raises and promotion opportunities) definitely increases productivity and general job satisfaction. If a person feels like they are in a dead end job that isn't going anywhere they are going to stop giving a frick, just a little bit, no matter how much integrity they have. All people respond to incentives.
