Do You Think Diversity Is Good Or Bad?

In another thread someone mentioned something that implied diversity isn't a good thing.
It is a broad term and there are many things you can implement diversity to, but for this instance.. let's use New Orleans as an example. I know many of you think its a shite city blah blah blah, but New Orleans is a unique place.
Would it be what it is today if it only allowed Anglo Saxon people? The city is made up of several cultures. Italians, Irish, Africans.... Cajuns which are french people from Quebec and Nova Scotia..
But in general, if you have a diverse group of people opposed to a group of people who share the same experiences, have been taught the same ways of life, etc.. The diverse group are able to look at situations from different viewpoints because everyone in the group has had different experiences in life, etc, etc.
How can diversity not be a good thing?

Diversity is good if organic. Forced diversity for the sake of diversity is not, because it diminishes the identity of the individual.

Diversity isn't intrinsically a good or a bad thing. It all depends on how it is used and what the goal of it is.
When it comes to cost forecasting and sharing, like in universal healthcare for instance, diversity is not a good thing. Diversity in the sense of an investment portfolio is a good thing.

Diversity is generally a good thing.
But not all cultures are equal.
And with more diversity, the more chances you have of being exposed to lesser cultures.

I feel like the counties with the least amount of diversity are always the ones people try to emulate. They don't encounter the same issues we do i'm assuming.

Getting along and being happen isn't the goal. Or at least I don't think it is. Whether it is a diverse group or not, there will always be people do don't get along, but with a diverse group, people will have less in common at first. But will eventually learn how to respect each other or at least work with each other..
But like I said, its broad term. I am just saying I think its not the most open-minded thing to say "diversity isn't good".
