Do you stop to help motorists on the side of the road?

I always do when I see it's a senior citizen trying to change a tire. I hope when I am old some young man will do the same for me.
If the hood is just up and there is more than one person I don't really think about stopping anymore. People have cell phones these days and a quick call brings a family member or wrecker.

I have but I don't make it a habit...everyone has cell phones and stopping on the interstate is dangerous

totally dependent on how hot she is

If it's an old lady/couple.

If it's a female or an elderly person I will every time. If it's a grown man, he should have the wherewithal to handle it. If my gut says it seems shady, I'll pass by, but contact the local law enforcement agency to check on them.
Oh yeah, and if it's a couple and/or kids are there. Except in south Texas.

I help women and old people mostly.

No. I'm a woman, and it's beaten into us not to stop for strangers. I know how to change a tire, and might help someone in a parking lot, but I'm not risking my life on the interstate or a busy road.

I've stopped numerous times to help. I even helped one old guy out by hauling his trailer with his lawnmower to his sons house while his truck was broken down on the side of the road. I've always been the one to say damn I would hate to be them and end up pulling over to help.

the hot ones just assume you are a pervert. i like to go for the medium ones that have some decent curb appeal. they are more thankful for your service if you know what ima saying.

I used to but I don't as much. I saw a couple just leaving the car and going to walk back to the Laplace exit, so I picked them up, brought them both to get gas and brought them back to their car.
I guess they could have had triple a or whatever, but I know I have run out of gas before and have been helped.

a former coworker of mine stopped to help a guy whos truck was broken down in a holiday inn parking lot. two of the guys friends came out of the bushes, put a gun to his head and stole his truck. he told me that he though he was going to die.
so no, i dont stop to help people on the side of the road. Help is always one phone call away anyway and everyone has a cell phone these days.

I remember people getting robbed doing this around my high school when I was there.

With cell phones, onstar, roadside assistance, AAA, etc there's really no need to stop for anyone these days.
I won't even get out and change a tire on a busy hwy, not worth the risk. I call the 800 number and have someone come do it for me

I've stopped a few times lately.
First time, it was two latino ladies. It looked like a older lady and her 20 something daughter. They had a flat tire and it was clear that they had no idea how to change it. Traffic was backed up and I was passing them at like 2 miles an hour so I had a long time to look at them and see the helplessness in their eyes. I decided to help. Neither spoke a lick of english, and I'm pretty anti-illegal alien, but hey, they're still people in need of help. So I changed their spare for them. They didn't have a jack (no surprise there), and I had to take all my stuff out of my truck to get to mine (I was coming back from a bike race and had duffel bags and gear...). They were very thankful.
Second time, I was coming back from the store and saw an old black lady who had misjudged a turn and missed the entrance to a store. Her car was half in the ditch. I stopped and pulled her car out. I had been wanting a reason to put my truck in 4 wheel drive and pull something, so it was a good excuse
She couldn't believe a white guy had stopped to help her and actually said so. I kinda laughed. She said "son, can an old black lady give you a kiss on the cheek?" I said "of course" :) Just as I was unhooking my tow strap a black guy in a big ole dually stopped to see if I needed help. I said, nope, we got her out. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.
I'm definitely no mechanic so If I see a car with the hood up I usually don't stop. I don't know enough about engine repair to be of any help. But, if I don't feel that I'm putting myself in any danger by stopping, and I think I can help, I will.

I have before. I will always get out to push if someone is close to a gas station and needs help

In college I had a crap car and it broke down on a Sunday morning on a highway about ten miles from an exit.
There were very few people around so I started walking. An older lady picked me up and dropped me off at a gas station.
I think it was unwise for her to stop, but I'm glad she did.
