It is appointed unto each man a time to die....and then comes the judgement.

There’ll be plenty of time for a dirt nap in the cemetery later. Let’s not rush things.

Been to Highgate in London. No ghosts, no vampires, actually quite peaceful with lots of famous dead people's graves.

I enjoy them too. I caretake a couple of family cemeteries also, which is neat. Great great and great, great, great grandparents are there. Helps you connect with history. Pere Lachaisse in Paris is cool. Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf.

We have been having the discussion of cremation vs traditional burial lately. I’ve always wanted a traditional burial but am having second thoughts.
I attended a friend’s funeral the other day… he was cremated before the funeral service so his remains (ashes) were in a urn inside a box. It was a very long Catholic funeral service and then his family left out the sanctuary and walked to a Columbarium located on the church’s campus, and his ashes were placed in a niche. Each niche cost $2500.

When you think about it…. in a traditional funeral your remains eventually decompose into dust. It appears more and more people are choosing to be cremated these days.

Yes….I enjoy visiting old cemeteries.

Wintergreen in Port Gibson is one of the prettiest cemeteries I’ve ever seen. Well worth a visit.

Anytime you have to make a big life decision, go visit a cemetery for 30 mins or so. The amount of perspective and clarity about the decision that you receive is overwhelming

Sorry to hear that.

Thanks. Not to bring the room down but mom is in hospice and couldn't go. Added anecdote to visit with your own old toots.

That dash between the dates on your headstone is your life.

Make the most of your dash.

I really like seeing the old cemeteries. The graves are so modest. Not too ornate. People just lived their lives and died.

Slept in one a few nights. Dark time in my life but it happens. Only scary think I saw were the neighbors. Very quiet and peaceful. And I was sober a few nights too.

Both of my parents are buried in VA cemeteries. Mom (no pics) in Houston; Dad here in San Antonio. Both locations are nice and well kept. RIP parents.

I think I’ve seen that one. Give Hollywood Graveyard a try. It’s well done and well narrated.
