Same, and then the frogs shite all over your house.

Have a dimmer switch on it. Turn it to the lowest around 9-10.

Front lights are on until everyone is home for the night, then when I remember, I turn them off. I do have a light fixture on the side of the house between the garage doors, and that one hasn't been turned off in years. Stuck a low wattage LED bulb in it years ago and haven't had to replace it yet. So while the lights out front may be off, at least part of the driveway leading into the garage is always lit up. Floods to the backyard have a light sensor in them, and will come on at dusk if I remember to leave the switch on.
FWIW, I like it dark and cold to sleep, so no extra lights are left on at night. The front porch lights will shine towards bedroom windows.

Exactly why I went with the gas laterns on most entry ways
Nothing better than a gas lamp entry light.
Until you have to replace or service it haha.

I have govee ground lights all the way around my house, and also n the back yard and on the fence. They turn on at sundown and off at sunrise. Maybe uses what 100 watts of power.

Yes, both front door security lights (40 watts) and back deck lights (60 watts) I also have corner lights on the house that illuminate when sensing movement/animals, people and a dusk to dawn side driveway light.
More light, less interest by potential thieves.

I turn them off while sleeping. But it's mostly for the bugs.

He also says leaving the lights on is an undue burden on the grid and ultimately the climate, unnecessarily increasing the electric bill.
Even incandescent lights are low draw and inexpensive to operate. LEDs use a fraction of the electricity that incandescents do, so the cost and burden nowadays are incredibly insignificant.

Mine are on 24/7. LED bulbs, 40 Watt Equivalent, daylight bright. Been in my house 10 years and only had to change them 3 times, but when one goes out, I change them both.

Why would you have them on during the day
Posted on 8/22/25 at 10:33 am to Adajax
I have green front porch lights
They are turned off around 2-3AM

I turn ours off because they're obnoxiously bright and probably annoy the neighbors.
I wish my neighbors were as considerate as you

Mine turn off when I tell Alexa good night.
Front porch off
Sound machine on
Entry way lights off
Living room dims to 25% on the lamps.

According to the new science, you should kill your pets first before worrying about light bulbs if you really want to save the planet.

I turn mine off as I hate the bugs that bring the spiders, geckos and tree frogs and make a damn mess.

My gas lanterns stay on 24/7, porch lights are only on if one of us is coming home late.
