Not everyone is blessed to have that situation.
My maternal grands died before I was born. My paternal grandfather died when I was very young and grandmother when I was in HS. I have almost no grandparent memories. The two I did know barely spoke English.

Good catch. Usually I'm one who sees all the editorial mistakes in the morning paper, but I missed the "kids" part at 1:25 a.m. WTF are we doing here in the middle of the dang night eh?

Yes, I know all the surnames in my family going back several generations. My family on both sides have been in the U.S. since the 1600's.

Your post makes a little more sense, but the text in the OP says “great-great mother”, not “great great grandmothers .”

Trick question. It would be 4 great grand mothers.

I k is both my grandmothers maiden names. But 7 of my 8 great grandparents had passed before I was born. My maternal great grandfather passed when I was 1.5 years old

My oldest kid is 22 and my sole living grand parent still alive is 100. So they have the privilege of know their great grandfather way longer then most.

No.....always Louisiana.
Normandy in the 13th century origin. They came up the Mississippi in the late 1700's from France. Not the rejects from Canada

I think this younger generation doesn’t put their phone down long enough to talk to their grandparents and listen to their stories.

My maternal grandfather was born in 1908, and I knew his brothers who were older. I wish I’d spent more time with them. There were no cell phones or other devices when I was young and spending time around them. And I was present. But I wish older me could have been there to appreciate it more.

I know all of my great-grandmother's maiden names. I wish they were still alive. There was something special about their generation.

Yes, and three out of the four were born in the 1800s. My lineage includes many individuals who had children later in life, resulting in older generations in my family tree.

I can honestly say no to that question. I do know both my grandmother's maiden names, but that's as far as I know.

I've never been inclined to research my lineage since it really doesn't matter in the long run to me---------they're long gone.

Hell, my grandpa on my mom's side was dead before I was born and my grandpa on my dad's side died before I was 5 and I can remember he was a butcher and lived in Arabi on Aycock St. near the river.

Cole was Dad's maternal grandmother and Waldrep was Mom's maternal grandmother. I recall meeting Granny Waldrep, but am unsure when she died. I knew Granny Cole well. She died when I was in 3rd grade.
