Do you know anyone who actually drives with two hands on the wheel?

Unless I'm about to go through some standing water or it's pouring outside I don't think I ever have two hands on the wheel. The few times I've tried it (other than my driving test years ago) it's uncomfortable as hell. I passed a lady earlier who was chest to the wheel and hands at 10 and 2 (or is it 3 and 9 now?)

For you older cats who taught your kids how to drive, did you emphasize two hands on the wheel?

I actually used to know a guy who drove with both feet (not a standard). He'd keep his left foot touching the brake and his right foot on the gas. It was bizarre.

Nb4 something about needing a free hand to finger bang the chick in the passenger seat, etc.

ETA: Brake. Because I'm an idiot

I only do it after I turn the radio down so I can see where I’m going better

I do, especially when I’m driving through a construction zone on the interstate with narrow lanes, a wall right on the line of the driver’s side, and 18 wheelers in the right lane lazily drifting over the center line.

I always do especially during deer season, you gotta be quick on the wheel to avoid the body shop.

This crossed my mind the other day. I dated a girl years ago and if we were ever trying to navigate somewhere she would emphatically turn the radio off like that was keeping me from seeing the signs

Am I racing? Then yes. Also use two feet.

If I'm just driving, not at all.

I hate getting behind these drivers. It's dangerous to drive this way.

It actually makes perfect sense.

Your mind eliminates something like 80% of what you are seeing at 70 mph so you can calmly process info.

If she gets into a wreck there is a good chance she’s gonna get seriously injured or get killed

Only when approaching an obvious change in pavement elevation like a bridge

How?

By having faster reaction times?

it's usually my knee and maybe a hand unless I'm 'shooting the gap' and 'threading the needle' and other various exciting maneuvers aka changing lanes

So you admit 10 and 2 is best to ensure safety in known hazardous situations, but you don't do it all the time? Accidents don't happen only when expected.

<----

Because I drive a semi and have to deal with the stupid shite from people that are playing on their damned phones for their entire drive.

I do. Cause I’m not an idiot. I’m also a man, which makes me naturally a better driver.
