We lost our yellow lab October 1. She was 11 years, 7 months and 2 days old. Still had the heart but not the legs. We have her ashes. We will spread some in the backyard at my Louisiana home. We will also take some to her favorite pond in Park City, UT. She loved retrieving balls at both locations. She had a great tome swimming and retrieving in PC on our vacation in August.

That's the sad thing, it's been five years, and it still sucks for me. If I didn't have kids, it might be a level of suck I would have a hard time dealing with.

But did you bury her with a tennis ball? It'd make her happy. I'm not crying. You're crying. Maybe we're both crying.

We haven’t done anything yet with her ashes yet. We still have her last favorite tennis ball from the 12 she had in our Houston house backyard. We may bury it with some of the ashes at the Louisiana house.

I've got a dog, 3 cats and a bird buried in my backyard in the 31 years I've been in my house.
The only one I didn't bury was a 100+ lb. Rottweiler. Digging that hole by hand would have probably been the death of me with my clay soil.

We bury our pets and have headstones made by a local monument company. Caskets are ordered online.

I got a little shrine going in basement.
Ashes a few pictures and a post mortem paw print I find creepy

The previous owner of this house has two markers. My uncle in law thinks he is funny and his mom Mary in the halfshell back there.
I got a pet cemetery.

Lost my Molly of 13 years on July 22. I cried for three days, still get misty eyed. Her ashes are in a curio in the den.
Got a labradoodle puppy who is now 6 months. That pup is wearing us out. About ready to put her next to Molly in that curio.

I have the ashes of mine along with his collar, several vials of his fur, and a paw print.

We didn’t keep either of our last two dogs- we got paw prints in clay, and that was enough. Probably the same with the next two dogs, when that day comes in 10-12 years.

Mine are sitting on the bottom shelf of my nightstand near where he slept for 14 years. Still feels weird not having to step over him in the morning.

I bury them like a normal person.

I have had the honor, privilege, blessing and pain of several great dogs in my life. We may only get several years with them, but we get to know and love several.
I'm hoping God lets me have them again when my time is through here.
