15+ year old car runs like a top but I have a dent I'm considering fixing. Cost to fix is $400. KBB value of car is maybe $2K.

Just feels trashy rolling around with a dent in and otherwise great shape car.

So the dent makes you feel trashy, not the fact that your ride is valued at 2k?

Leave the dent. Anyone who judges you based on your vehicle is nobody worthy of your concern.

If it bothers you, fix it. How much longer do you plan on driving it?

People blow $400 on all kinds of dumb shite that won’t last nearly as long.

Cost per use man, go for it.

$400 fix a dent or new car and payment? You said the car is in stellar condition otherwise. It's a no brainer decision, dude.
A new car to impress others? They ain't payin' for it.

Fixing a dent is not dumping money in an old car. Throwing parts and repairs in an old car is. If the dent bothers you fix it.

Sam Walton drove a raggedy arse ford truck. Who cares what you drive.

I've still got a '99 Silverado 4x4 that I wouldn't dream of parting with. Runs like a top. I had it repainted 10 years ago (better than factory paint).
2 year registration was $20!!! Insurance is cheaper, too.

Difference is with repairs there's uncertainty. If I spend $400 to keep it running, is it good for another year or will it be back in the shop next month?

Here the dent is purely cosmetic.

Just slap one of these bad boys on the dent and you're good to go.

It's still under 100K miles and I do less than 5K a year.

Just bought some engine and cabin air filters waiting for delivery. Less than $600 in repairs(non-routine maintenance)in 15+ yrs.

I was going to suggest the Band Aid. My buddy did that and got tons of laughs and attention for it. Except frickers kept stealing the band aid magnet in parking lots and he kept having to replace it because he got addicted to the attention from it.

What utility value has the car lost by having a dent in it?
