If we're counting motorcycles, we have 8 vehicles we're paying insurance on here in Tennessee. Alll of those combined are about the same as just my wife and I in Louisiana.

My wife and I have three vehicles. I really want a Raptor but I don’t want to give up my Tundra, and what the hell would I do with four vehicles crammed into the front driveway and street.

We have an ag policy for everything that gets left out there and the ranch hands use. We keep it separate.

I need to get off my arse and create an LLC and charge people for hunts. I’m tired of getting bent over on taxes and want to write off equipment. Need to get a few cows and do a few hunts.

I need to look into this. Any carriers you know that are better at doing this?

I think most of the large mainstream carriers provide some options but it seems like many of them have moved to a per mile charge and I am not sure but you may have to agree to a telematics device, which is a no go for me.

We use Chubb, and they have multiple options, but IIRC, they require bundling with home, so it may not be a viable option.

My company went from a little over 200 per month about a year ago to 251 per month a year ago and they just went up to 315.

I went to a different company and they got me the same coverage for 158 per month. I have been thinking about buying a Tesla as a second vehicle because I am spending over 300 per month just on gas.

Of course there is.

Nope.

However mixed use vehicles require good records as they can see IRS scrutiny. Keep good records and do the deductions properly either milage or actual expense (the former is "always" better for older vehicles). You will have to carry them on a commercial policy if they are registered to an LLC. Depending on your state and policy you could run into issues with permissive use but you simply need to understand that ahead of time and abide by the policy.

The real issue with a mixed use vehicle owned by an LLC is if it gets significant use as a personal vehicle then it offers a way for a litigant to pierce the corporate veil. This is hard enough to avoid in any sole proprietorship to I personally would not do it. However, it is not fraud unless you are lying to an entity in this case primarily the IRS.

3 vehicles (‘13 M37, ‘18 4Runner TRD, ‘20 Tundra TRD), 21 yr old daughter with 2 wrecks (1 bad, 1 minor). $8K/year….will drop to $2500/year when she starts job in September and comes off my insurance.

So there’s that….

That's exactly very cheap for those cars. That's only 6K annually.

Curious as to what his limits are, and it's a reputable ins company.

Had 3 for awhile. I had my truck. My wife had a Toyota Corolla that had been paid off for a few years and was ready for something new. She wanted a mid size SUV this time but her elderly mother couldn’t get in/out of them.
She lived with us and wife would take her to all her doctor appointments. I bought her a new car but we kept the Corolla primarily just to get her mom around. Dropped insurance to just liability for $65 month. Once it finally got to the point we had to put her in assisted living, we sold it.
