It depends. Does said person take care of his/her family, job expectations and other personal responsibilities? If so, I couldn't care less what a person does on his/her free time. I play video games mostly when I'm off or when the SO is not home. I know plenty of people who don't play video games that are worthless degenerates.

I have a nice house, truck, make $90k, raise a 9 year daughter by myself, and my knuckles are Sonic-ready. Couple nights a week, I'll pop open a few beers and play video games for an hour or 2 after the little one goes to sleep. I think I have this being a real man thing down pretty good.

Weird. What other activities cause you such insecurity?

People have different interests. I play video games a lot. Pretty much from when my wife/kid goes to bed until I do.

Personally, I don't understand how anyone can find fishing or hunting enjoyable. Instead of just saying I don't respect someone who will leave his family half the weekends out of the year, I realized it's so much better to be fascinated how people are interested in different hobbies.

I met a guy who spends his time traveling to revolver speed shooting competitions, and that's just awesome because it is so different.

Sitting in a recliner, drinking beer, cursing at the TV when some sporting event is on is such a more manly regular activity I guess. And let's not forget beating the dog, the wife, and the kids too. All the above have been considered manly past times/activities. Let's not even get into stamp collecting, butterfly collecting...

But yeah, no gamer could ever be manly

Why are you so insecure with your "manhood"?

A "real man" would never care or even think twice about how another man, who has his life together, spends his free time.

Depends on the game... I respect Madden, NBA2K, FIFA gamers... Some of these shoot em ups and Dungeons and Dragons clones, nahhh

sure I respect them, I couldn't imagine the money I'd have saved if I just bought video games instead of paying a bill at my country club every month or renewing a hunting lease every year.

Video games can be a good stress reliever, but I've become very mindful about frittering away my down time. Life is short, and I want to be creating and building as much as I can while I can.

Because some dude might like playing FIFA he's less of a man now?

I just don't think playing games is worse than the mindless shite y'all watch on TV these days.

Or any worse than being obsessed with other men playing sports and posting online about it.

Had some friends in college that we would pre-game at their house before going out. All they would do is sit there and play FIFA or Madden until it was time to go out.
That shite sucked, couldn't even engage in conversation with them b/c they locked into video games.

We'd go out and I'd try to chase women to bring home.
My friends would pop an adderall at 2am and go back and continue to play FIFA until 7am.

I dont think it makes you less of a man. But after 8th grade, you should probably put down the controller

I don't get to see my brother much as he lives in Perth (12 hours away). I play FIFA against him on weekend mornings whenever I can.

Be careful of those stray legos. They're a bitch when you step on one barefoot.
