Do you have an accent?

My accent isn’t too thick, but I definitely have a southeast Louisiana drawl. Surprisingly enough, some of my friends that I grew up with have different accents and we all grew up on the North Shore. A few of them don’t have none at all.

Doesn't everyone?
I sound like I'm from Brooklyn per people

As I would tell people in Australia: I don't have an accent. You have an accent.

From what people tell me, I have a very thick, “old south” Southern accent.

Yes, my New Orleans accent has lessened. Much of that is by design (for work) and also living out of state since Katrina.
I still get asked quite often what New York burough I'm from.

When I travel abroad I’m asked to say Alright Alright Alright constantly.

My voice is very neutral. I’ve had people ask me if I was born somewhere else.

My accident has gone away since moving out here but when I drink it comes back in full force. I have the Brooklyn sounding New Orleans accent.

Nope. But I have a bad habit of using phrases like “fixin to” or “y’all” occasionally.
