Do you find that social media impacts you negatively?

I deleted all of my social media a few months back because I constantly caught myself comparing my life to other people’s. Also, constantly looking at people argue made me feel like shite.
I can honestly say that after a few months of not having any social media, I’ve been happier and WAY more productive.

No but I don’t like seeing people i care about get so caught up in it sometimes.

No like it once did. Used to see it and compare myself but now I'm in a better place and it doesn't affect me as much.

Taking a break from it was a catalyst for getting to here so I think taking breaks once in awhile is healthy.

Arguing, and people trying to flame/slam dunk on each other is all the shite is now.

No it’s completely neutral. Really only use it to follow major life events for people I know.

No.
I don't post on FB, only look at the trainwreck and dumb shite other people post on there.

Rarely tweet... don't have Instagram.

I realize Social media is the highlights of peoples lives and it's not reality for the most part

Not really. Most of the popular people in high school look a lot worse now than I do.

I feel pretty resistant to comparing myself to other people’s highlight reels. If anything, it makes me feel better that I’m not outnumbered by tiny humans.

But I can’t resist those video recipes of delicious carbs that old people share. Damn you, Grandma!

#1 problem with it, IMO.

Thank the sweet lord that my wife spends very minimal time on Facebook, etc. or that would just give more layers of shite to contend with in her incessant "whoa is me" feelings.

I have TD which is mostly anonymous, LinkedIn for business contacts and Twitter (which I open maybe twice per month) for instant news. Got rid of the rest of it.

I have twitter and instagram. 95% of the time I am on those it is to look at sports related news.

TD is the only “social media” I have now just because it’s anonymous and it’s not people showing the highlights of their lives.

Through deleting the apps, I also have stopped paying so much attention to politics which has made me so much happier... I cringe when someone brings anything political up now. I have found myself wanting to know more about people themselves and have less pointless political conversations.

No, but I only use it as a source for dank memes and laughs. I see it impact others negatively though.

Facebook depression is real. My wife was complaining to me that we weren't going on vacation during Spring Break this year and "everyone we know" was on vacation. I had a work commitment.

I had to explain to her that people only post the best parts of their lives online. They don't post about the hemorrhoid they had last week or that little Jimmy had to repeat the 4th grade.

No. I removed tons of people from FB, plus their new algorithm only shows me posts from the same 20-30 people that I actually like. I removed news channel pages, newspapers, and pretty much anything where the comment sections are cancer.

IG doesn't really have any of that because it is just pictures and I follow nothing but food pages and cute animals, with some personal folks sprinkled in.

I see a lot of people talk about how social media made them feel inadequate in their lives and how they have this weight lifted without it. I am sure the link is there to some degree, but I can't help feeling like that issue first and foremost stems within themselves.

As of now, nobody I know or went to high school with has a life I'm envious of. Not an insult to them - just that I'm living the life I am happiest living as it is.
