Mom had a lump taken out of her breast a week ago and is probably OK, but we're not sure what the plan is on chemo/radiation. Meanwhile, pops just got some heart flutter and put on heparin, which is in addition to all the diabetes/back/hip issues he has. And my manic depressive alcoholic sister is the one mainly helping them out and she is primed for a melt. 
But, like you say, it's still better than what a lot of people have to deal with.

Yeah, I wrote his broker and explained why he probably missed his open house Sunday. I made sure to emphasize that I have no knowledge of his wife's role in the incident, but she was charged with simple assault...I think she bit a cop. But it appears her charges were dropped...or at least she didn't have a bond.

I've been through some very trying ordeals over the last five years. I sympathize with the ashen despair and indifference you are experiencing. 2016 has blown. I read an article the other day that between the economy, the constant terrorism and BLM, the shitshow that is our entire political system, the weather, just everything on a macro level, it may be the worst year ever.
