Do You Ever Just Feel Numb? It's Been a Long Weekend

So much shite has happened over the last few days.
Girlfriend goes to visit her friend from high school to try and get her to leave her abusive husband. He was supposed to be gone. Shows back up and beats the hell out them both. I got to listen to the whole thing over the phone because when he threw her into the wall, her phone dialed the most recent number (mine).
Drive all night.
Go to see the magistrate yesterday. He expressed sympathy as he took her statement but pretty much said, "He'll get at most a 60 day suspended sentence, anger management classes and community service. Sorry."
I get home, my Dad has been in the hospital since Saturday and hasn't told anyone. Apparently, he was an undiagnosed diabetic and his leg and foot are really screwed up...as in becoming necrotic.
Two deals fall through today...and that was the best part of the day.
I am just fricking numb. I can't even muster the energy to be sad or mad. I am drained of emotion. First time in 35 years I've felt like this.
Does this happen to other people. I will admit to living a pretty charmed life.

Yes it does and I have lived a similar life. Mine lasted about a year. One day everything goes really well and you learn to take the bad with the good. Hope for the best in all that shite, it sounds rough. Hope you find that guy in a dark alley.

I have been there on several occasions and am in it a bit right now. I think it is ok to be numb for a day or two but then find some motivation and crawl out of the hole or it will swallow you up. Hang in there, the sun will once again shine upon your lilly white arse.

Medicine or treatments are something I don't pretend to know a damn thing about. They're keeping him a for a few days to see if they can get everything stabilized and then, he's going to need to make lifestyle changes, which at 65 years old....I don't see happening.
