In before Owlvis reference.

Yes to OP, over half of my property is wooded so no big deal.

It takes about 1.5 hours to do the whole thing if it hasn't been really dry.

If it's been dry, I can use my 28" Snapper rider and cut 15-20 minutes off that.

I used to have over an acre with a landscaped pool area, I didn't own that yard, it owned me.

This. Who the hell wants to help their grass grow only to have to cut it more often?
If you have bermuda it greens up nice and pretty.

When I can't see the top of the '82 Cutlass I have in the front yard, that's when I cut the grass.

Yep.

I pay some people to come spray some shite twice seasonally. Basically some fertilizer/weed killer stuff. And if the front flowerbed gets too out of hand we have someone clean it up. Otherwise I do all of the mowing and crap.

I mow, weedeat, edge and blow. I'm just too cheap to pay someone $200 per month to do it when I can do it myself

Throw on some headphones, listen to podcasts, have a couple of pops and zone out for 2 or 3 hours.

Pops? What are you, a little girl? I call bs. It takes me a good 4 hours to do mine in one run if I do it in one day...I do what you do, but I have beer, not pops.....and I don't just have a couple.

Yep. Paid a service in the past but they'd scalp areas and chip off pieces of fence in their haste. I decided no one would care as much as I do, so I do the acre myself.

Cut the grass, aerate, seed, fertilize? I just got mine aerated and will do the seeding and fertilizing myself. I plan on getting it aerated twice a year and doing rye grass in the fall and Bermuda in the spring

Sounds like your yard owns you.

Don't own it yet but working on it. Cut my own, roll my own. Don't remember cutting grass this early in the year, or later in the year when I was a kid. Probably gonna have to cut it two more times. Damn global warming.

The moles do a good job of aerating it

I have more moles than a dermatologist office. They suck, and i cant get rid of them. Talked to an exterminator, he basically quoted me an outrageous price and didnt guarentee the work. Only thing they dont have a one year guarentee on

I only do the back. I have Empire Zoysia and it has to be bagged. It was too expensive to have someone bag it. I’m a cheap SOB. Plus I have dogs, so I didn’t want someone coming in/out of my gate.

I aerate, herbicide, pesticide, and fertilize the front and back on my own though.

I tried to get rid of them for a few years and I finally gave up.

The American dream, right? I used to be like that. But then you have to buy the $8,000 mower and spend most of your Saturday cutting grass. I've cut enough grass in my life, and several years ago hired a lawn service. Never been happier. Lawn guy is a UL student and a real go-getter. Really glad to support this guy. He cuts my next door neighbor's yard same day as mine. Win-win.
how much does he charge?
