I've never once posted anything about our elf on Facebook. I can hardly remember to move the thing much less actually photograph and post it's whereabouts

Mine usually moves to a new, unoriginal location in the same room. Typically hanging off the closest thing I can find

Whoever said their kid notices when it DOESNT move is right.

You wouldn't do it if it wasn't for Facebook and social media. You wouldn't even know it existed. You can't write off social media's influence on you.

Pawn the moving of Elf on a Shelf off on your wife and be done with it.

Ok. Whatever.

Just bc your obsession for it overtakes your shitty life doesn't mean everyone else does.

I only do it cause it helps my kids wake up easier in the morning when they are curious where their elves will be

I'm not original but there's so much shite online I'm usually googling elf ideas at 5 am before I go to the gym

You're right.

You just mentioned the internet and plenty others mentioned social media. Sorry I just plugged in fb.

One person even went as far as to say I was lying about having fb bc I wouldn't even know about it without it.

No. He said you probably wouldn't know about without the existence of social media.

Nobody should deny that the rise of the Elf was helped immensely by social media.

You come off as extremely insecure about this.

Didn't say you were lying about having Facebook, elf on the shelf became a thing because of social media. It wouldn't be the fad it was today without parents posting it everywhere. It wouldn't be sitting in your house had it not exploded all over social media. That's just the truth.

Just curious, how did anyone know about anything before social media?

That's one of the most stupid assumptions I've heard anyone ever make.
You wouldnt know about something if not for Facebook?

I'm not insecure about anything.
You seem like a fricking prude that doesn't want your kid to enjoy extra things revolving around Christmas bc you are too cool.
Seems to me if Anyone is insecure it's you pal.

The elf really isn't a big deal. Our youngest likes to see what the elf is doing. Shes in bed for 8:30. It's not that difficult to put it sitting on a different shelf.

I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people that do the Elf learned about it through social media.

Dude.
I don't have facebook, don't give a shite about Facebook, didn't learn about some elf from Facebook.

It's cool if Facebook is your favorite and you get upset that others dont share your enthusiasm about it.
If it makes you feel better, yes I'm sure it has helped boost the elf shelf popularity.
It just didn't go that way at my house.

Happy?

Because he doesn't like one thing that has only been popular because of social media less than a decade and was only created in like 2005?

Yeah, he isn't a fan of letting kids enjoy the timeless traditions of Christmas because of one thing that didn't even exist when he was a kid.

It's more apathy than dislike. Neither me nor my wife have any nostalgic feelings towards it. My daughter hasn't asked or seemed to care about it. We have our own other fun traditions that we do. We just don't see the need as of yet.

Guys like R11 get so upset when others say they don't do it because the feel like those people think they are better or "too cool".

Like I said, they are just projecting their own insecurities.
