Lets see, I grow a garden that is around 40,000 square feet, I raise fruit trees and use wild fruit like blackberries for preserves,I also have 3 fig trees that I make fig preserves from. I also raise chickens for eggs, I make and smoke my own homemade bacon, sausage, tasso, meat sticks, and for fresh sausage I make breakfast sausage, fresh green onion sausage, fresh italian sausage and chorizo. I also fish a good bit, catch crabs and occasionally catch my own shrimp.
I absolutely love to cook so it was a natural extension for me to grow and process as much as my own food as possible.

With only the two of us it just makes more sense. I cook on Sundays to lure my boys home

Used to eat out more. Did a budget and figured out we were wasting around $700 a month. Cut that back to around $200. Young kids aren’t cheap even on a ballers salary!

We dine out probably 5-6 times a week, including lunches. Obviously sometimes more and sometimes less. Usually one dinner during the week (Monday-Thursday), and Friday/Saturday night. Lunches vary more than dinner.

Cook more. Eat out once every 1 or 2 weeks. By choice.

I cook. I maintain a strict diet. Take out food is a treat.

I cook 2-3 times a week, making enough to have leftovers a couple of days per week. I normally will eat out on the weekends and meet friends on Tuesdays for oysters.

I like that you didn’t assume Mommy bought the groceries.

Preface this by saying I have 2 young kids.
Typical Week:
Sunday: brunch or lunch somewhere after church. cook a big meal Sunday evening that lasts for leftovers until about Wednesday. I either cook stuff I know I’m good at like gumbo, jambalaya, spaghetti, etc.... ir I venture to cook something new or something I haven’t had in a long time. I admit, I’m a pretty good cook.
Monday - Wednesday: pick something up for lunch. Occasionally I go home and eat leftovers or have a sandwich.
Thursday: usually cook one of the quick easy meals. Lemon molasses and garlic chicken thighs, veggie side, or shake and bake pork chops, taco dinner kit, etc.... sometimes a combo of these meals replaces Sunday big cook.
Friday: we have 2 kids so if we don’t get a sitter, we usually Waitr something or pick up Sushi.
Saturday: I’ll invite whoever wants to come over and fire up the joe. Steaks, burgers, pizza, smoked meats, salmon, etc.... it’s all fair game and I look to smoke/grill something new when I can.
Typically we eat at a sit down restaurant once a month, maybe twice.

Wifey and I go out to eat once or twice a week.
We save $$$ and calories by meal prepping on Sunday.

Cook during the weekend and freeze for consumption during week. Microwave is its normal beast mode.
Going out is a variable but weekend prep work allows us flexibility

Yes, Mommy taught me how to cook.
Daddy doesn't smoke.
They live in SC. I live in Florida.
