We eat out more because cooking for two is not always cheaper and if you are doing the cheap meals it gets old quick. We do cook and I love cooking but the idea that cooking is so much cheaper is not always true.

I don't really do leftovers so getting take out or something is often cheaper

When I lived alone I'd cook something like spaghetti or gumbo and freeze it in individual sized containers or maybe cook a single chicken breast on the Foreman grill. I did eat out more though.

Eating out just lunch and dinner for us would easily be $50+/day.

Damn that is cheap.

You can find good healthy options more than 6 times a YEAR.

frick man, get out and experience just a little life ok. Try once a month to start.

Fwiw, once a week generally. Home cook the rest with leftovers. No chains generally.

Some of the budget threads and diet threads on this board reek of autism/some kind of disorder

“I eat out 6 times a year”
“I go out once every two years”
“Today I had half of a boiled egg for breakfast for 6 macros, 6oz chicken breast for lunch and two leaves of spinach with a protein shake for dinner”

I don't think it's healthy to eat out all the time like I said, once a week is a good "treat" imo.

Once every two months is Scrooge McDuck worthy.

My parents got divorced when I was a kid and I lived with my dad in a bachelor pad. He worked a lot, didn't know how to cook anything besides breakfast and had no interest in learning. We ate out every single meal for well over a decade

Usually eat out once per week for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch is with coworkers and dinner is, obviously, with family. My wife and/or I meal prep lunches every Sunday. I cook my breakfast every morning, and we usually cook something quick for most dinners. Sometimes well just eat the prepped food

Cook 6 days or so. I work from home, so leftovers usually for lunch. My wife is in is in home health, she packs her lunch. We'll do waitr once a week or so and go out to eat 2-3 times a month.

I base my menu off of Rouses meat sales.

Not being cheap. Just prefer it that way. Been homesteading the last decade or so.
At 70 years old I’ve gotten out a lot. Actually traveled pretty much around the world as a Petroleum Engineer with a major oil company for 42yrs.
I’m where I want to be in my life right now.

We cook mostly and bring leftovers for lunch. Eat out rarely. Now that the weather is warming up and staying light later, we're firing up the grill on Saturdays and eating outside on the patio. Dogs are loving it, too. This weekend they got grilled chicken and rib meat.

Same here. I get together with friends and we cook stuff a lot. He used to be a really good chef, learn a lot from him

I prefer that to dining out any day. I enjoy coking. Particularly with fresh seafood

I cook easy things M-F. We go out to dinner on Friday nights and have a late lunch on Saturday. Sunday’s is when I go a little crazy and cook big meals.

The wife and I eat or take out 4-5 days a week. We also living within walking distance from some amazing restaurants.
Clancy’s
Saba
AVO
Patois
Picnic
Regenellies
Juan’s
Bordeaux
Appoline
Toast (Saturday AM breakfast spot)
Vincent’s
Franky and Johnnies
Guy’s poboys

We spend a lot of money eating out. It’s kind of sad though because we are both really good cooks and there’s a Whole Foods a couple blocks from our house where we can find really good cuts of meat and fish.

As for lunch, usually skip or get a salad or sandwich from somewhere during the week.
