And messenger bags are a terrible design. Totally inferior to a backpack. They carry less, aren’t as stable on the body due to how they hang, and overall just make you look like a metrosexual soi boi.

Yeah, now that yall mention it, I hardly ever see messenger bags downtown anymore. Think I know one guy in general who still carries the Indiana Jones leather messenger bag.

Backpacks are probably just better for the shoulders and neck.

Even working class guys are carrying backpack toolkits nowadays.

Yeah, bring my lunch, couple jars of tea, some dry oats and fruit to snack on. Much easier to put it in a backpack instead of trying to carry a lunch box and separate bag with the other stuff.

I always wear a backpack.

When I started my first accounting job I was a little worried what people would think. Then I realized that if someone reprimanded me or treated me poorly for wearing a backpack, it wasn't somewhere I wanted to work anyway.

I bring a satchel one of our vendors gave us. It's like a runner's bag. Keep all sorts of miscellaneous stuff I use. Meds, headphones, hand sanitizer, lip balm, screen wipe, etc.

Yes, I bring a backpack into the "office," when I am on a site. Otherwise, I work from home. I bring a significant amount of gear with me, all technical in nature. If I need more than the normal EDC, I have a messenger bag that I carry as well. (Yes, these bags are matching Tumi ballistic canvas--black for, you know, "stealth" or something. I'm fricking stylish. Not some uncultured neckbeard who runs a YouTube channel comparing Linux distros.)

Backpack contains laptop, tablet, portable secondary monitor, chargers, flash/SSD drives, and things I would need every day.

Messenger bag contains small network switch, portable router/wireless bridge, crimpers, punchdown tool, jacks/plug inserts, a few thin 1' and 3' Cat6 cables, network tester, and a flashlight. Just a few things that make instrumentation engineers, cabling subcontractors, and project managers nervous when I break them out. Yes, I'm checking your shite. Yes, I'm going to find your problem. No, you didn't follow spec. Yes, you have to go back and remediate. No, I'm not paying for it--read the contract and call your boss.

I'm not talking about a bag for your laptop.

In that case, no. Seems like a pretty big caveat though.

I had a tool bag back pack but switched back to hand or shoulder carry because I got asked about the back pack so much and grew self conscious even though it was so much more comfortable and had a easier to organize.

I’ll typically go for a run at lunch or hit the gym down on the bottom floor of the building.

I cannot imagine going on a run at lunch toget drenched in sweat and spend four more hours at work without a shower.

Why can't you go for your run in the morning before you get ready to go to work for the day like a sane person does?

We have locker rooms and showers on the same floor as the gym.
