Do you believe jobs in fast food can be as fulfilling as they are challenging?

This is the main question I have when it comes to positions in the fast food sector. The risk of working one of these jobs is you get bored and burned out. Wouldn't you want to work a job that is as fulfilling as it is challenging?

Someone who is trying to get a fast food job couldn't care less about either.

On the other hand I’m glad you’re looking for honest work

The Sundays I worked at Chick-fil-A have made me the man I am.

It can probably be pretty filling, depending on how many fries you snag for yourself each shift.

Do workers work shifts in fast food or do they have more of a set schedule

after a year or so you move up from french fries to the burger grill

after 6-10 years flipping burgers you can move up to the register

after 10-15 years on the register, around year 25 you get on the short list for advancement to middle management as assistant manager

If they can just get you to show up, period, I think they'll take whatever they can get.

When I was young I did every crap job under the sun, construction, painting, mover, grocery store stocker, warehouse work, landscaping, farm labor. I never once considered fast food.

I mean it’s usually the last resort option, so there’s not really a choice. That said, there are some people for who it can be fulfilling, former addicts/criminals finally living an honest life, those of low intellectual ability etc. I’ll never negatively judge someone working one for a living provided they give an acceptable level of effort.

I worked at Raising Cane's #2 on Lee for about a month when I was at LSU before I started working at the Regions on College.

Absolutely, positively not the kind of work I ever want to do again. As a matter of fact, it motivated me to work my arse off in school because I didn't want to ever have to do that again.

: Hey, I started out mopping the floor just like you guys. But now... now I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries; then the grill. In a year or two, I'll make assistant manager, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in.

Um Most kids work this job because they want a new video game system, gas money to chase pussy, or girls do it to buy clothes.
They accept it because it's available,

You're making these jobs sound very appealing even for adults.

McDonald's should give you a call to gauge your interest in becoming their VP of recruiting.

So maybe I’m just remembering fondly but it seems like when I was a kid, the vast majority of fast food workers were teenagers.

Now they’re all really sad adults.

Am I wrong on this?

I watched a dude at a Waffle House at 3am in Northern Kentucky working the spatula like he was directing the Boston Pops. I gave him a tip. It was worth it just to watch him work.

Totally right. Most of the white ones look like meth heads.

Hence, the extraoridinary turnover.

You're not getting highly motivated people working n these places. Used to be teens, now it's dysfunctional adults. After a few weeks f paychecks, they're gone

Ive worked in restaurants. Not everyone can do it. In fact, most of y'all would probably suck at it. I have friends I worked with in college that went on to other careers they are good at. Still didn't have any business in a kitchen.
