Not a question on if you are religious or believe in a creator, etc. But do you believe in the concept of a soul? If so, what is it?

Man is made up of 3 components: Your body, your soul, and your spirit.

Your soul is made up of 3 components: Your mind, your will and your emotions. It's known as your personality.

Your spirit determines your identity.

What’s the difference between the mind/will/emotions and identity?

Your Mind is your brain, the device you think with.
Your emotions represents your feelings.
Your Will is your decision maker.

Your Spirit is your 3rd component. Just like God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, your spirit is your personality and the part of you that directly relates with God.

The spirit separates from the body at death. The brain dies because it's physical and just a hunk of meat, but the spirit separates.

No. There's no such thing as a soul. There's only the brain. There are functions of that organ that we call the mind, consciousness, emotions and the like but they're not separate from the brain and stop when the brain dies.

your qualifiers make this an odd question. You can believe in a creator and not a soul. But it I'm not sure how it really works if you're a complete materialist. I'd say by definition (at least the commonly used definitions of the terms), you can't be a materialist and believe in a soul.

There is definitely an indescribable, metaphysical presence to people.

Some are more powerful than others.

I’d argue that one can be an atheist and not a materialist (my understanding of the term anyhow) at the same time. I was just trying to not have it be a religion thread - which given the topic I guess would be hard if not impossible.
