Do you believe EVP/Spirit Boxes are real?

Been watching some videos on YouTube of various 'ghost hunters' using them. Most of these YouTubers are well known. Have you or anyone you know ever used one and actually contacted anyone?

I’m not sure what that is at this moment. But I’ll check into it. Sounds weird, which is what you wanna see. It sounds like a riddle inside of a mystery, wrapped in an enigma.

My knowledge of this subject is limited to ghost hunting horror type video games like Phasmophobia... but from what I gather an EVP searches for electromagnetic energy a ghost may leave behind and a spirit box I think is supposed to help the living communicate with a ghost
But again that only comes from video games so I could be way off

Have a buddy who does the "ghost hunting" hobby and swears by it. That's all I got.

I tried it at the myrtles and laughed because you can literally make out something and your brain wants to plug in what you think it’s saying. It’s dumb.

Most of those ghost hunter shows are so fake that they can make true believers skeptical about the existence of ghosts.

I watch them from time to time. What gets me is that when anything happens they all start talking, "did you hear that?, Yeah I heard it, What was it, I don't know, what do you think it was, I think it was someone speaking, what do you think it was, thats what I thought, what did it say, I dont know. Spirit what did you say?"
I can imagine a spirit standing there rolling his eyes. The last show I saw the spirit supposedly "said" "stop talking".
Then they talked 5 minutes about what that meant.

There's lots of "Paranormal and Ghost Hunter" shows that come on TV, at least on cable in the N.O. area and every one of them utilize the EVP thing, along with a lot of other technical electronics supposedly good for ghost hunting.
The humans ask questions, usually wait a few seconds, then continue to ask more questions. The premise of the EVP is it captures voice phenomenon that humans can't hear and they play the tape back to see if they caught anything.
Sometimes the answers are fairly clear, but most times it's left for interpretation by the shows cast and they really do a wide reach for the answer to fit.
I've never had any paranormal events happen to me directly, but my ex-wife and her mother did relate a story to me that happened in my first house, the one my dad died in when I was just 8 and he was 35 and it was food for thought.

Is that the yahoo who runs around in the show with face masks or full blown respirators on his face?
If so, nothing he can say is credible.

I have heard the term spirit box used to describe a container, like an aquarium, in which some random stuff is placed and then it’s locked. A video camera captures any activity in the box over a series of days. Toy cars roll around, dolls walk, etc. Pretty creepy to watch until you realize how easy it would be to stop the recording, open the box, and manipulate the contents.
Those shows are for entertainment purposes and there’s not much entertaining about 3 people standing around in the dark without finding ghosts (possible exception: porn).
