I like breaking up the monotony once or twice a month but overpriced airport drinks and being away from family gets old.

It’s almost worse when my days are great and get all jacked up but then have to go to bed alone (married) in my hotel room.

I did consulting for an international company for a decade. I've been to 46 states, several countries and had a lot of cool experiences but wouldn't want to do it with a young family.

Once my kids got a little older I found something else that allowed me to be at home most of the time.

Loved it at first. Grew to hate it. Travel about once a month now.

I just spent 8 of the last 9 weeks in hotels, with the only break being Thanksgiving.

I dont mind since Im single with no kids. I will say, that my happiness is directly related to the hotel and location.

I've been staying in Austin and recommend Aloft hotels. Always a good time there.

Worst part about traveling for work is having to sit through awkward, miserable, never ending dinners. I don't care how good the food is. I'd be much happier picking up take out from somewhere by the hotel and eating it in my room while watching TV.

I enjoy short trips

I have a quick 2 night trip to Denver after the holidays that I’m looking forward too

I do not enjoy traveling for weeks at a time, especially now that I have a family

It was fun and made contacts all over the world.
Then 9/11 happened and airports became a test of your sanity. By then my travel days were winding down and it was easier to pass those trips to others that were eager to go.

I typically travel once a week but have been gone M-F the last 3 months. I’d like it a lot more if I was single, but then again the only people that stay at hotels constantly are crusty white dudes.

This and I also enjoy training my Lab, which comes to a halt when I leave. Also lifting. I have my routine down at my home gym and trying to do that at an out of town gym sucks.

I hate when I have to travel to bunkie for work. It's like an extra 30 minutes on the road

At beginning of my current job they flew us up for training 3 times for 5 nights each. We’d get out at about 5:30 every night and could do whatever we wanted. I’d usually get a pizza, watch tv in the room, head out with friends for a few drinks. After that I’d come back drunk and eat the rest of the pizza
