I respect the law not all of them but when the male brain is not fully developed until 25 years go ahead, but why burden a child with early addictions oh you probably already have them addicted to meth what’s wrong with a little alcohol. I don’t think I have ever came across a more discerning post in my entire days on the TD. That is saying something. I don’t want to rant on how irresponsible this is I’ll leave that to the people here who have had children affected by alcohol.

As far as how bad has someone committed something illegally it’s equivalent to a speeding ticket.
That is simply false, particularly as it relates to background searches & job interviews. There is a significant difference.
For example, in the not too distant past, you wouldn’t sniff a job as a pilot with any alcohol violation on your record. That has changed, but once the retirement wave is sorted, we will spend the subsequent decades back to the norm. In the meantime, it can have an immediate impact on one’s ability to receive/keep a medical certificate, which is required to do virtually any kind of flying.
Government agencies tend to take that shite very seriously - viewed in a much different light than a speeding ticket.

It’s legal in Louisiana to drink with your parents at 18.

Be careful when you go to Japan.....

The legal drinking age in Japan is 20 years old. The law prohibits anyone under 20 from drinking alcohol or smoking. This law also applies to foreigners, who could face jail time or deportation if caught breaking it.

Germany’s drinking age is 16 and their rate is higher. Poland, Russia, Ukraine, the balkans and baltics is 18 and those rates are considerably higher.
So that goes to show you the age daddy government sets doesn’t mean shite….

When they turn 18 or sr year of high school I guarantee you they are drinking
If you are up front with them and when they go out with friends you make sure one person does not drink so they can drive and that it’s ok to call for a ride

Naive view.
My teenager has never even had a drink of soda, much less alcohol. Of course he made Eagle Scout at 13, so his values and programming are a little different than the average teenager.
Kids pick up habits and behaviors from their parents. If you start handing them drinks when their teens, expect them to think it's OK when they're older.
I totally agree, one of my sons is now going to LSU to get his Masters, my other son is on a powerlifting team and has college credits done already in high school. Neither one drink or smoke. If they felt peer pressure they would tell those kids to go to hell and get away from them. They hunt, and have other hobbies. We do not encourage that shite. Somebody's got to be the grown up

For an 18 year old this is a nothing burger.

I mean, I earned a masters degree and I drank like a fish. I don’t think drinking or not drinking has anything to do with a masters degree.

Teen alcohol use has decreased big time over the years.
The posters saying “kids are gonna drink” are just flat out wrong.
