A tree that bears fruit receives gifts. Without bearing fruit, it may as well be struck down.

Probably had more to do with being located far enough away from any major power while also existing on a continent loaded to an insane degree of natural resources while creating a government and way of life that allowed for the development of said resources

Partially yes, but there are nations that are way more devout Christian that are shitholes. I think religious values is more for the benefit of the individual person.

We are successful as a nation due to a culture of freedom and capitalism with a large population of people with a lot of drive and ambition combined with a relatively high IQ. Not to mention tons of natural resources and a geographical location that makes it difficult for other nations to invade.

I say this largely because a lot of our money and economic success came from people who didn’t exactly practice Christian morals. A lot of the robber barons of the industrial revolution were pretty shitty people. However there was a lot of luck in some of their successes so you can’t rule out divine intervention. It’s an interesting discussion

That too, but part of our foundation is the separation of state and government right? In other words, our religious beliefs should be between us and whatever god people pray to and not be incorporated into our government.

Billy Graham was conservative but scrupulously nonpartison. His son didn't learn that lesson, and it's to the detriment of his Christian witness. His nonprofit, Samaritan's Purse, does some good things but he's needlessly divisive.

The biggest threat to our country's future is that we have a fat, idiotic population that expects the government to take care of them from cradle to grave.

Not really

It was because back then our founders killed them.

They were tired of oppression. Real oppression.

Now we are all under crown law and too afraid to speak out because it would mess up us keeping 50%-60% of what we earn.

In all honesty we should have fricked DC up decades ago and held our reps responsible. Now they run roughshod over us with zero accountability.

Sometimes, the willingness to do the hard work comes from one’s stupid arse beliefs.

The whitewashing that goes on here is always amusing. If anything, our forefathers pushed for a, relatively, secular society built on rationalism

I think that was more based on getting away from a govt based religion.

Worship the way you see fit or not at all.
