None of the Samsung TVs I've had since have black levels that come close to the plasma.
Cause you are buying cheap led tvs that even blacks use light. Try an OLED for black blacks.

Stupid 24 year old me bought a 40" plasma for $1200.
I'd never pay that much for a TV today

I still have my 55" Panasonic plasma I bought from Best Buy in like 2013 or 14 for $600. They were phasing out plasma so $600 was pretty cheap. I want a 75" LED, but can't bring myself to get it while the plasma is still going strong.
I remember my first laptop circa 1997 or 98 was an Apple PowerBook G3 that cost me like $7,000 ??

The picture is still fantastic, but it’s only 1080p so I’m sure its days are numbered.

Imagine where we'd be with healthcare, automobiles, airplane tickets, college education, etc if the gov't didn't actively interfere with those markets.......

I paid $2,700 for a 46” in January 2008 just so I could watch the LSU/Ohio State NC game in HD. I still have it today in my living room and it works great.

Still have my circa 2009 42” Samsung plasma as my gym TV

I paid 2k for my first LCD 37" dumb Samsung in '06..
Watched the '06 Saints return to the dome on it.
Hard to believe that was 17 years ago.

Just got a 75” on Amazon for $500. Crazy how far technology has come

Was living in the UK in 97. A 22” flat screen was 4400 GBP (pounds sterling). Around $6000 US. This was a flat screen 15” tall by 22”. Kind of a widescreen format. Small and mucho expensive.

Still have a 42" Panasonic plasma in one of my spare bedrooms that I got on Black Friday back in 2010. Picture is fantastic on it.

What about projector TV’s from the 90’s? You could only watch tv from directly in front of it
Like those big ones that had a projector screen? This was in the.. I guess mid to late 80s and I remember my parents were friends with someone who owned an appliance store.
He had just got a "brand new projector TV". I remember my dad telling me that the guy told him it was almost like being at the game when watching football. They invited a few families over, including mine, to go watch a LSU game on this new TV. I was excited.
As soon as I got in the living room it was a glare on the TV and the picture quality was worse than a TV. I don't remember, but my mom said I shattered the guy because he had been bragging about this TV and was showing it off at the time when I said "I thought it was supposed to be like watching it in real life. Why is it so blurry?" and evidently the guy jumps up and looks at everyone and says "I almost forgot. We have to turn off the lights.
He turned the lights off and it didn't do much to improve the picture quality and my mom whispered to me to not say anything about the TV and that If he asked me if it looked better to tell him yes.
But those things were shite.

Our first one was $2k. We replaced the TV in our bedroom last year and a 40" was somewhere around $350.

When we got our 2014 Sammy 240hz 65” 3D led. We put the glasses on and tuned to a beach volleyball game in 3D for about 5 minutes. Yeah that was cool and also the last time we ever saw those glasses.

Same here. Picture quality rivals best 1080p LED/LCD screen available today, but damn that plasma TV is heavy. If I ever move I'm leaving the TV on the wall for the next owner--hope they don't mind.

I still have a plasma in my house. It is heavy as shite and basically acts as a heat source in the winter

Me too, but damn, it makes a beautiful picture.
