Are you saying gumbo isn't Cajun ? What's your point with that analogy ?

Now folks don't think Bruno Mars should do funk music, and Katy Perry goes on apology for wearing a kimono or whatever it's called.

Do people actually get mad over stupid shite like this?

Earlier today I saw a video of some Mississippi baws pouring mustard in their cooler full of boiled crawfish. I'm still triggering.

The term "cultural appropriation"...what a f*cking joke. Let's all put a stop to it. Black women must not straighten their hair or wear extensions anymore. No one except Polynesians can get tattoos, etc. etc. Sorry NBA, get them removed. No more button down shirts for anyone other than whities. Wear you traditional African or Hispanic, or wherever you come from garb. We can go down the line and just stop the forward progress of any culture. It is so f*cking dumb.

Cultural appropriation is complete bullshite. We live in a melting pot, and we all borrow from one another.

I'll go so far as to say cultural appropriation is actually one of the best things that has ever happened to the species. Just with food, imagine if civilizations took that seriously. If another culture learns how to salt their food from another, does that culture have the right to invade for using that? No, it expanded their life spans and made food taste betters.

Just think how much worse food would be, not to mention thousands of other things and achievements would be without cultural appropriation.

Melting pot should be your only answer to combat these pussies.

The most ironic thing is that the same people who claim that black culture and/or Mexican culture and/or (insert here) culture are being somehow taken advantage of and must be preserved...

say that those who want to preserve Western culture are white supremacists.

The bruno mars flap was trash and crap and all he has done is given AA praise for their music.

Perry is trash though.

And yes this appropriation stuff is real but there are countless things that are dogged for being "too black" "ghetto" "trashy" "unappealing" when black folks are involved...but the mind a non black artists popularizes it, or brings it to mainstream america, it suddenly acceptable.

Elvis is a clear cut undeniable example of this.

Cultural appropriation is a racist term only used by racist. It basically means that certain cultures and lifestyles are only meant for people of certain color. It is one of the most racist ideas out there

How can you be racist if you don't have much socio-economic power? Sounds like you guys are so desperate to turn the blame in reverse.

No it doesn't mean that. It just means respect the cultures and accept the culture when the originates bring it forth...and not make it acceptable once Katie Perry or or other non POC artist popularizes it.

its not hard.

Theres a reason why people don't dog Jon B, Robin Thicke, Teena Marie, Paul Wall, and a slew of other non black artists that perform black art forms.

Snooze me all you want but its true.

Care to take on Elvis? JT singing R&B dressed as pop for the masses (even HE CONSIDERS HIMSELF an R&B artist).

Black artists have been making millions selling their own music for decades.

There is no "black or white" cultural art. That shite died 50 years ago.

"prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior." this has been the definition of racism until like five years ago. that's how.

and how has perry disrespected "black art"?

Black folks will always check peoples authenticity --and quite frankly they've been doing it as a survival technique for hundreds of years. Theres a reason why they are quick to call out those are don't seem down for the cause and are just using their culture, derived from blood, sweat, tears, pain, glory, and triumph, for a quick buck.

Too much pain and soul in that art form for them to just "shrug" it off. It literally was a form of survival and refuge. An AMERICAN form of survival and refuge.

Where do you think we live? A melting pot?

Cry me a river over cultural appropriation. I not only don't care, but I think it's a good thing and hope we continue it. How do you like that?

That shite can't stand

I saw people saying this shite on twitter the other day.. They were saying something about how him not being black he shouldn't say he is "bringing the funk back" or some stupid shite. I saw it trending on twitter. Some black folk was saying that, other black folk were telling those black folk to shut up because they were embarrassing themselves.
