You always hear people say "the world is coming to an end", especially when they are talking about a tragic event. Is this just a saying or do people really believe this?

If one believes in the afterlife and eternity, this life is but a vapor. And in that respect, the earths age is also minuscule and always close to the end.

Protestants really are selling themselves short with the end time stuff if they are ignoring the Catholic visionaries and mystics. Although they do love to grab onto the "last pope" stuff it seems...

More specifically Miracle of the Sun on Oct. 13th. The miracle is well documented and defies explanation even today.

With rogue nations like North Korea and Iran ten years away from a tactical nuke, it's possible.

Yeah, I don't get when people say "things are getting worse, this world is coming to an end". We have a lot more people living in it than ever before, but overall, we are much more civilized.

Crazy people do crazy shite. It's just that in today's world we actually hear about it. And if the world ever came to an end, I doubt it will be something that just happens all of a sudden. It will be a gradual process.. Well, unless it gets hit by one big arse meteor or if the sun just vanished.

Maybe.
Not today though.

A preacher predicted the exact day and time. I was in the 8th grade. At the exact time we were changing classes. Down the stairs to shop class, everyone breaking the rule against talking in the hall.

People have been thinking the end of the worlds is right around the corner as long as people have had the ability form cognitive thought.

None of you dumbasses really believe this line of thought is something conservative Christians invented or have the market cornered on do you?

So "prophecies" written in a purposefully vague context are coming true?

This was another from when I was a kid...

In 1973, David Berg, founder of the Children of God, predicted that Comet Kohoutek foretold a colossal doomsday event in the United States in January 1974.[4][5][unreliable source?] Children of God members distributed Berg's message of doom across the country. The majority of U.S.-based members then fled in anticipation to existing communes, or formed new ones, around the world.
