I mean it is a pretty good story and all but people have literally made a religion out of it. The reactions to the new movie are unbelievable. It is like Disney kicked a baby.

Absolutely. The backlash with the latest movie is terrible.

Finally, a decent rebeloke thread. I just don't understand grown men getting hyped over it. But, again, it's no worse than obsessing over where high school kids choose to attend college, Disney, comic books, Game of Thrones, D&D, or fantasy football.

Most religions were started from space movies.

Uh, yeah. Any obsession is taking something too seriously.

No. No they haven't. They may watch the movie a lot and buy toys but no one ever has thought of Star Wars as a way-of-life philosophy that can save their soul from eternal damnation.

Well, they don't have Game of Thrones to freak out about right now. It'll pass.

The Movie/TV Board is pretty much unreadable right now. So I'd say yes.

When I was in Hollywood, I saw people waiting in line 2 weeks before the premiere of one of the new movies.

It's fantasy. Although I'd say the latest one is the closest the series has come to sci-fi.

But it's no dumber than being passionate about sports or Scientology. It's just a harmless distraction to help us momentarily forget how meaningless life really is.

Fantasy. If it is sci-fi, I must have missed all of the science in the hundreds of hours of canon I've watched/read.

I'm glad I never got into that shite. I didn't even know there was a new movie out until everyone got upset.

Yes. The first trilogy was campy fun and didn't take itself too seriously. That's what gave it charm. You can go back and over analyze all the films and find major issues with all of them. People just cannot be satisfied anymore and honestly just need to relax.
