It's really no different than football, I know people who are so invested that they can't actually enjoy saints games. Football, Star Wars and heroin, all can be dangerous if done in extremes.

The only people melting are those defending a horrible movie from “fanboys”. Most of the arguing and bickering comes from people not having any part of people not liking the movie. Boggles the mind.

It's a very big deal at our house. My youngest son is a HUGE SW fan. He was unprepared for the Last Jedi. Came home and cried for hours. Granted, he is a kid and has autism, but it was really traumatic for him. Idk any adults that have reacted so strongly. I think if I did I'd probably be a little more judgy.

I haven't seen all of the SW media but my guess is that it remains a Space Opera.
