Do people realize how large Lagos, Nigeria is?

16 million people. 5th largest city in the world. That's somewhat surprising.

Nigeria is a very interesting county, it's government structure is very similar to the United States and is more developed that people might expect.

Been there several times and it rivals Mumbai in poverty and squalor, but yes there are lots of people there.

Just no Hugo, there are more unfinished abandoned buildings than any other place I have been, the last change of government was the first peaceful one in it's history. and there is sectarian violence hourly.

Everywhere I went required multiple armed guards to avoid being kidnapped and a bribe to conduct anything from a hotel room to immigration clearance. It is the definition of a third world shithole.

there are pretty much rolling blackouts 24 hours a day, power is normally provided by on site generators at hotels and such. That is when the fuel, wire, or generator itself has not been stolen.
