C4s are the stepchild of the Corvette world aside from ZR1/GS/Callaways

I had an 80 Vette and like most vehicles built in the 80s, it didn't age well

They are just corvettes, not Ferraris. What did you expect?

Have you looked at 90s Gen I/Gen II Viiper interior and body gaps?

You can fit a midget’s foot in the gap between the hood and headlight.

The only C4 you should be looking for is the ZR1. Every other model makes you the 6th owner. Owner 3, 4, and 5 didn't give a shite about the car and ragged it out.

[/img]Poorly made and bought for image and compensation. My 73 Charger looks as good inside and out as it did in 1973

They were slow but handled well, 84 Corvette was one of if not the first production car to pull a 1.0g at the track when Magazine tested back then.

It's a late 80's early 90's GM vehicle, that's how they came from the factory. Those 80's and 90's interiors were trash and used the cheapest materials available - from the dashboard to the seats and everything in between.

The mid to later 90s starting doing much better with the corvettes.

The c4 frame & suspension was a big change from the c2/c3 years which shared the basic design. You sit lower between the frame rails instead of on top. There is a method of exiting the driver seat even with a tilt steering wheel. The much improved handling came with a trade off in the early years. The ride was extremely stiff and was softened later.

Couple things at play here:

1. Corvettes have cheap interiors that fail more than a Porsche or Jaguar that costs 50pct more
2. They make more so scarcity is not an issue. The prices drop over the years and people neglect them. IF they make >30,000/year there is little anxiety to protect such a car, specially if it is 20yo and <$10k value.

That said the C4 is hella performance bargain. Search hard, drive a good bargain, buy later cars, as always 6mt and convertible will run the price up. They;re at the bottom of the depreciation curve. I've been casually looking at 94-96 6mt convertibles myself. 300-330hp in a 3200lb body, and most mechanics can fix it. Also very good looking car.
