Friend's neighbor had one. This was discovered when the neighbor discovered it was friend's cat that had been shitting on their kitchen floor and wasn't happy about it.
What cat would be upset about taking a dump inside? Sounds like a spoiled cat.

Dogs
Best invention ever.

My lab barks at anything that happens to land in the back yard (bird, ball from kids playing next door, blade of grass falling, etc). That would have to be a suicidal critter that attempted to come through the doggy door.

I know a guy whose male lab climbed his six foot fence somehow and went thru the neigbor's doggy door to get to the neighbor's female lab. Neighbor hears a bunch of commotion in his kitchen at 2 am and found the two dogs together. Made a pretty litter of puppies.

There are some with collars that let only the dog in.

My dog actually has one. Us people have never used it.
The raccoons can get their own door.

My sister in law does. She puts a platinum cover over it at night.

I have one that I put in myself. Open during the day, locked up at 11pm. My neighbor keeps hers open 24/7 and neither of us have had any non-dog animals show up. Did get 2 wasps though

We wanted one but no funds.
Door had glass paines all the way to the bottom so I just broke one of those out but took a while for the dog to build up callasuses on his tummy from the leftover glass but it works mostly.
No coons yet thanksfully cause my wife hates then

We have one and we just put the hard plastic cover in place at night.
We do it more to keep the dogs in so they don't bark all night
With 3 dogs we have not had any issues with critters trying to get in
I think most critters avoid areas with dogs

I used to have one in the basement door. I was down there watching tv one night and a opossum stuck it's head in the dog door. CSB.

We have this one which is a storm door with dog door built in. We leave the back door open when we are home and they can go out when needed. The dog stay inside when we aren't home.

always wondered about these. My problem is that during the warm months geckos seem to hand around our doors and will scurry in any chance they get.

Thank God Kevin's family had one in "Home Alone"

My neighbor has a sensor on the dog's collar so when the dog approaches the door, the plastic pane slides up. Pretty cool
