Spin off on the “Do kids play outside anymore?” threads.

On my street there are kids playing outside, riding bikes, having fun damn near 24/7. My daughters included. I feel like I’m the only one out there with them throwing the football with the kids, going on bike rides with my daughters, playing kick ball etc. Just having fun any time I’m not at work or running errands.

Meanwhile the other dads sit outside and drink beer like King of the Hill characters, and the moms drink wine and gossip all afternoon. I think they think I’m not friendly because I don’t ever have a drink with them, but I’d rather have a drink when the kids get laid down at night, and spend time with my kids sober in the day.

You see the same thing at our neighborhood pool. The milfs sunbathe and sit on their phones, while the dads just seem to be there to be an authority figure who sips there beer and tells their kids to stop running.

Anyone else noticed this trend?

My parents never played with me. They worked. I threw the ball against the brick wall. Ain’t nobody got time to be lounging around with frisbees back then.

fathers shouldn't be playing with their kids. that's why millennials are so soft.

Nah, they probably just think you're gay.

The son does keep mentioning there's some weird neighbor guy that always wants to play two hand touch.

I know you’re trolling but that’s literally one of the worst and asinine things I have ever seen posted on this site.

Very likely they talk about you. "Hey, you think ole Peepdip is fruity? -- No doubt. His wife is always flirting with me and he just plays hopscotch with my kids."

My dad worked a lot but he always found time to spend with me. I’m sure it was exhausting.

I’ve been confronted on a couple of occasions (parties, etc) for not spending time with the adults during the party. I’m more interested in playing in the pool with my kids, or generally spending time with them than other adults.

This mainly has to do with the topics of conversation going on. I don’t have any interest in gossip, or care enough to provide wisdom to other parents that need it badly but have no awareness or intention to accept it.

I have fun with my kids. They are my escape.

I do.. play wiffle ball, kick ball, play basketball with them all and throw baseball and football with my oldest son, jump on the trampoline and play tag.. they also like playing phase 10.. I'd rather watch movies with them but it's good to get outside too!

Whether it be fishing or sports, I am doing some activity with my two boys at least 5 days a week once I get home from work and on the weekends.

The kids have to want to is the problem I see mostly now a days.

I’ve got the finest girl on the block baw. You sound like you’re defensive though. Are you one of the guys with the beer guts who doesn’t spend time with their kids?

I prefer to not let my children outside with all the dangers in the world today and the sun and all.
