Yes, indeed you are because you totally ran after the wrong portion of my post like a greyhound after the rabbit doll that they use in racing because you are so insanely defensive(the term I used). I was speaking to CommieDawg about something specific as to his motivations for starting the thread but you had to get your jimmies rustled to chime in because you couldn't resist the temptation because your precious evolution had dared be mildly questioned, thus proving me correct about what I said in a later post.

I think one of the things which gets missed is the wonderful predictive nature of science done right. One of the best examples of this is Neil Shubin's discovery of Tiktaalik.

LINK

Now...this is exactly what people say they want. A "missing link." But, since they are not intellectually honest when they say this, what they then point out is that now you have TWO new gaps!!!! In short, unless you can show literally each and every animal from my dog all the way back to the first single celled life, dum dums will continue to say there are gaps and find fault in what is the most well subscribed THEORY in all of science.

Yeah yeah...well you don't know what I think for starters you just made assumptions but you can't make it without making a personal attack. At least I the intellectual ability to express a different point of view and disagree with someone without resorting to this tactic. Additionally, my reading comprehension lends me the ability to read a post and address the point rather than get sidetracked by something off topic.

quote:

The real problem actually is you’re denying facts and spreading misinformation.

Disagreeing with one's take on a subject that is still open for debate and disagreement simply does not equate to denying facts. Furthermore, if I could have you show "misinformation" I spread, I would like to see it. All I said was I have a different belief in the matter and you seized upon the opportunity to take liberties with this. That's not me spreading anything. It is you wanting to call attention to yourself by taking cheap shots. Now that IS fact and I am sure you are more than willing to deny it.

Evolution as a whole is not open for debate and disagreement. There is no debate in the scientific community, overall.

Well, now I'm curious. Why did you put it in caps?

I was just on a roll and capped it but after I did I figured I would just let it be. Again some of you just ran with that and totally missed the point being made about the OP's intent which is clear to me, which I correctly said would happen and said the reason why it would happen as well.

Haha, you can say OUR but my belief is that I was created by a loving God and I didn't evolve from anything aside from his creative power. Feel free to disagree and believe I am ignorant, but I can assure you in this case my alleged ignorance is bliss!

I could have said whatever I wanted about the subjet but I do know that most theories are taken as fact in the science community but theories can and are proven wrong with new information so just because I don't accept a present day theory as absolute fact, that's my prerogative and where my faith plays a role. I am not going to keep going around in circles with you pro-evolution guys(and again I am speaking of how we humans came bout not certain species adaptations, mutations, whatever) because you all get rabid and have totally gone away from my initial point to CommieDawg and his OP.

I mean...Catholic Schools teach evolution. Theistic Evolution is the "official" position of the Catholic Church.

Is that second point true, though? I genuinely don’t know as I’m not catholic and admittedly don’t keep up with the Vatican’s latest positions. This post had me curious though, and Google told me this:
quote:

Concerning biological evolution, the Church does not have an official position on whether various life forms developed over the course of time. However, it says that, if they did develop, then they did so under the impetus and guidance of God, and their ultimate creation must be ascribed to him.

Catholic.com
quote:

The Catholic Church holds no official position on the theory of creation or evolution, leaving the specifics of either theistic evolution or literal creationism to the individual within certain parameters established by the Church.
...
Catholic schools in the United States and other countries teach evolution as part of their science curriculum.

Wiki
Not trolling, genuinely curious. It seems like evolution has become much more accepted in religious circles in the past ~20 years. This is odd to me since Catholics appear to have been the first to theorize about evolution in the 1700’s, well before Darwin.

I tend to think the “modern” evolutionary debate has more to do with the modern evangelicals than Catholicism - which was your point, I suppose.

So there is no mathematic formula that can justify the spike in this century, when we know humans have lived to the age of 70 since before Roman rule, and there were triple and quadruple the number of births per family in past generations

Let me see if I understand your logic:

Exhibit A:
The world population didn’t grow at nearly as fast from 3000BC - 1700AD as it has in the era of globalization.

Exhibit B:
If humans had been around as long as scientists say, our current population would be much higher than it is today given our current growth rates.

Conclusions:
- Humans haven’t been around as long as scientists believe.
- Therefore humans did not evolve from apes.

Next question:

Do believers in evolution believe that all races and sexes are equal?

Equal in what sense? Natural selection just selects for traits most suited to survival not necessarily the "best." Let's say a lethal virus emerges tomorrow that everyone except caucasians is immune too. Well, not so great to be a Caucasian now is it?

The classic example is sickle cell anemia. You can google it.

It's more accurate to say that the Catholic Church considers the theory of evolution to be compatible with the Faith, but they do not take an official position on the subject because they do not consider it a theological issue. They do allow it to be taught it in their schools though as part of their science curriculums.

This is complete nonsense.

So let me get this straight, vestigial organs, wisdom teeth, fused chromosome, etc just appeared randomly due to evolutionary forces. Yet the fact that if there were only 2 people who were actually 'created', there could never have been changes to their descendants? And everyone would look exactly alike, same skin color, same hair, same language, etc. All these years later? And that as the descendants of those 2 originals migrated and interbred and adapted to a changing environment, vestigial organs, wisdom teeth, fused chromosome could not possibly have happened. Ever?

Damn son, youre a damn genius. I give up. Cant argue with that logic

All that is possible given many tens of thousands of years. Not on the creationist time scale.

Do you really believe that about 7,500,000,000 people came from 2 people over the course of 6000 years?

Two people is way way way too limited of genetic diversity. They wouldn’t even made it past a couple generations without being killed off by something like virus. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of mutations that would be accumulated through extreme interbreeding.

Again as I’ve said there are religious people who believe in evolution.
