They're out there protesting ICE because ICE shot a woman with real bullets after she tried running one of them over and they're buying plywood and aluminum foil to make body shields. Surely they're not so stupid that they believe those will protect them against actual ammo? This just proves one (or both) of the following:
1. They're really, really, really dumb.
and/or
2. They're more about FEELINGS and how things make them FEEL, and these DIY plywood shields look official and make them FEEL good while holding them during protests.

Is it bad that I want someone to give them shields and spears and see how a modern (completely untrained) phalanx fares against the riot cops?

To be fair, paintballs hurt. Non lethal bullets hurt worse.

It looks like they are larping, but at least the red star ones are being honest. Hopefully none of those are recently naturalized citizens or legal aliens of any kind as being a communist is frowned upon in our immigration and naturalization laws.
quote:
A person is subject to revocation of naturalization if the person becomes a member of, or affiliated with, the Communist party, other totalitarian party, or terrorist organization within five years of his or her naturalization. In general, a person who is involved with such organizations cannot establish the naturalization requirements of having an attachment to the Constitution and of being well-disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States.
The fact that a person becomes involved with such an organization within five years after the date of naturalization is prima facie evidence that he or she concealed or willfully misrepresented material evidence that would have prevented the person’s naturalization.

Exactly, this stuff is to stop less than lethal rounds, billy clubs and deflect gas canisters. Riot cops dont use live ammo (yet) and people with plates arent going to risk them getting seized/stolen in the event of an arrest.

If Maximus had Roundup drums.Posted on 1/16/26 at 1:47 pm to stout
Parchment paper would keep them from sticking

Only in the minds of demented liberal loonies and the look of surprise on their faces when they don't is priceless----even when it's just rubber bullets used by police for crowd control.

Her legal neighbors are at risk?

Democrats' favorite line is Republicans are all uneducated simpletons. This is half their voting base. And the other half insist men can get pregnant.

Maybe a non-lethal round?
The more accurate term is less lethal. If one of those rounds or a tear gas canister hits you in the chest, you could potentially be a gonner. The broiling pan, while silly, may actually be effective at dispersing the energy of a direct impact.

If a human skull can't stop a .22lr, neither will a broiling pan.
People don't think a .22 be like it is, but it do.
Reminds me of the first week of internship at Conway in Monroe. I went to the ER and there was a man with a hole right between the eyes and also obviously bleeding from the back of head. Me and all the others were thinking "why are we working on this guy, he obviously is about to die." Thats about the time he says something like, "my head hurts."
Ends up the 22 short bullet had entered at a slight angle and did not penetrate the skull, but stayed under the scalp until it reached the very opposite of where it entered and tore out of the scalp.

Could have been subsonic round, much less velocity.
