Didn’t most bottle caps have corks in them?

Wasn't there another chocolate drink back in the day that only had a single word for a name?

I'm remembering the name being written diagonally.

I remember Chocolate Cow and Choc-ola

They were made for guzzling. Two of them would hit the spot.

Yep until plastic ones came along. That was a thing - seeing if you could get that cork liner out of the cap without tearing it.

Chocolate Soldier rented a warehouse in Opelousas from my dad for many years when I was growing up. I always thought that was pretty cool.

Me my dad and my brother would go ride to the brand Village East Rouses in Houma and get them 35 years ago. It was my favorite drink.

Grew up in Opelousas but did not know this

I was fortunate enough to find chocolate soldier as a kid. Brings me back to fishing on the krotz springs levee with my pawpaw

I remember when you could get them from a vending machine for a dime. We used to suck some of that down when we were kids.

When we went grocery shopping, I would sneak a six pack into the cart under other stuff. I'd keep a hidden stash of chocolate soldier in my room.

4 years later the little bottle of chocolate drink became high life ponies.

Here is a rundown of other drinks that you may remember...Pop Rouge was one for me, but it isn’t on this list.

This was also produced at the YOO-HOO plant in Opelousas until YOO-HOO was purchased by MOTTS.

Chocolate cow and Choc-ola was more like the Great value version of Yoo-hoo
When Cadbury schwaps owned Yoo-hoo they used to let employees take home product. My Dad was always bringing stuff. One year he brought home a pallet of Yoo-hoo and we passed it out for Halloween. I would sneak about 4-5 bottles a day to school and sell them for $1. People would come up to me like I was a drug dealer every morning
