Do 90% of these kids really need to be on these competitive travel ball teams?

Not just baseball, but also AAU basketball, girls volleyball, etc.

I get it for the elite players that really could benefit from playing ahainst elite competition they won't get playing in a local rec league. And they may have a future beyond HS. But most of these kids waste so much time just driving around to these games and waiting in between games at tournaments. Wouldn't they be better off spending that time playing local games at fields near where they live?

The other shitty part about this phenomenon is that kids don't play pickup sports at all anymore. Everything is structured, and ran by overly obsessed parents.

Jaxxton needs role players to fill out the roster.

There is like a 25 page thread on the topic on the MSB from the last week. Pretty entertaining if you are bored.

Just picked up Treuxton, Khash, and Jaxxon from the bunting clinic. They want to meet you at the nearest Sonic. Now.

My kid played travel ball last year and it was pathetic what was going on. Parents pushing their kids way too hard and living through them.

Whats worse is that they get into rec leagues because they think they are going to dominate and they ruin those too. Got one kid that plays for a travel team and his dad is mad that I have him in the outfield. Well he's only the 6th best player on the team. he thought because he played for a travel ball team that he would be treated like jesus. he's a mediocre player at best. rec and travel should be separate. dont do both please.

Unfortunately, most travel ball is just a rec league for kids that have parents with money that want to live vicariously through their kids.

Wish it was still the same as when I grew up, 1-2 practices a week and a game on Saturday, maybe 1 during the week sometimes. Now every sport is 4+ days a week of hardcore BS and prohibits playing 3-4 sports a year to figure out what you like and what you are good at.

frick travel ball and what it’s become

I played travel ball one year and never played baseball again. Totally burnt out

Also I wasn’t very good, never would’ve sniffed anything above single A ball

I don't much about it, but I guess it wouldn't be much of a league if you took 90% of the players out of it.

It’s like homelessness &
Travel ball of any sport
It’s about the money everyone makes money in travel ball, homelessness and religion BUT THE PARTICIPANTS!
ITS A BUSINESS CAPITALIST THEY HAVE CONVINCED YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY AND YOU DO!
I can unequivocally say your son will not make a living playing baseball. The stats are on my side.

Travel ball was just starting when I hit little league and back then you played rec ball, then you had to make all stars and the best of all stars were asked to try out for travel but it was invite only and it actually meant something to you when you made it. Needs to go back to that model. It was bad enough when the everyone gets a trophy phenomenon started. Now every kid is a frickin all American. Crazy.

It’s one of the most effective pyramid schemes of the last century.

Amway ain’t got shite on Travel Ball. It feeds directly into an insecure parent’s ego fulfillment brain zone.

They do. Their parents' money is a necessary component of the the economic system that is travel ball.

Let me tell you a secret… travel sports are a cottage industry racket to extort $$$ from parents by washed up ex-athletes… if you have talent you have talent… 3/4’s of the kids playing travel ball aren’t worth a $&@$ but daddy is living vicariously through them because he didn’t make the JV team
