just throw a big rope across the road. it's barely a bump when cars hit it, but they will slow down before driving over it. and you can remove it easily when not in use. drivers don't pay any attention to those 'kids at play' signs
you talking about the signs for the slow kids?

I always thought it was kinda cruel to single them out like that

You’ll be okay if you paint it in rainbow colors.

They're happy though. The signs clearly say Slow kids at play.

First, you should be honest about if it's your perception of the speed of a car while you're standing in your front yard, or if it's actually the speed the car is going. Most people's perception is greatly distorted.

I lived on a street in ATL that had a speed limit of 25. Since I was about to turn, I was always doing less than 20, but there was always this old crotchety bitch that would wave frantically for me to slow down as if I was driving a Dodge on a surface street (why can't those frickers speed when they're on the interstate, instead of scrolling the gram doing 4mph under?)

How much trouble do you think someone could get in by installing a speed bump on a public road without permission from the city (BR)?

This has criminal charges and civil lawsuits written all over it. Go for it buddy

It really depends on whether you're installing a speed bump, speed hump, or speed lump.

Put a fake camera that flashes as they drive thru. They'll freakout thinking they got caught.

If you put them out when kids are actually at play, people will pay attention to them. If you leave them out 24/7, then no, obviously no one is going to pay attention to them.

The boy that cried wolf phenomenon is based on human psychology, it's not made up.

We got speed bumps put out pretty easy in first request, then they put some stop signs and removed the speed bumps

And I can speak from personal experience on it. Several houses on my street have them. They started by intermittently putting them out, and when they did, I slowed down and put my head on a swivel. Then they started leaving them out 24/7. Yea, I’m aware that children live on this street. How lovely for your ugly neon yellow signs to perpetually remind me…

I can't remember exactly where, think off Government, there was a street with speed humps. We used to jump them in our trucks. I say this to say, assholes like us will do a-hole things if you make a hump and not a bump.
