Just seems like a modern thing, particularly with women, that if you arent happy 24/7 then something is wrong and drastic changes must be made.

Because people are taught in modern times to do anything to avoid trials and hardship. Those things are meant to be an opportunity to grow relationships to a place it wasn't previously, but instead it's our instant gratification society just quits when it gets a little tough.

What's the long term consequence? These people are never going to know the beauty or fruits of a long term bond. They were born and raised for the opposite and they'll never find a person they fully accept.

This thread makes me realize that I’m doing pretty well. I might drink, smoke, and do a copious amount of drugs while living in a tent, but at least I don’t have to deal with a wife/ex-wife

Females are always looking for the bigger and better deal in every aspect of life. whether they're browsing those Amazon.com deals, using their looks to get a free drink, or dick-shopping at the gym ... it doesn't matter.

and it doesn't help that our society bends over backwards to justify their reckless behavior.

And the worst part is they never actually obtain that which they seek. They're trying to fill a void that cant be filled that way.

It's the fruit of a superficial society.

My divorce was excellent. I discovered her cheating and ditched her. We had just lost everything in the flood and the insurance check was in my name only so she got screwed there. All utilities were in my name and were cut off asap as well.

She wanted child support but her kids all have diff bio dads who are deadbeats. The kids were teens who chose to lie to me to cover for their mom. Too bad, kids.

BUT i am so thankful that she cheated ( and the man she cheated with) because I now have the life that i always wanted and have a wife that always encourages me to live I want. On our first date we both said we wanted to retire to a camp one day. About a year later, we made that dream a reality and live in our camp o the river.

We thank our lucky starts that our exes cheated on us.

A lot of folks get married because they don’t want to be lonely. They end up marrying someone who they never really liked. After a while they want out.

I’ll add to this. I know people that have done it because they were bored and looking for that extra something to occupy their lives.

True, I should have expected that. I raised them from toddlers but they are entitled to make their choices.

Just as i was entitled to make the choice and dissolve the savings accounts that i had created for them for college or a car.

That made a nice little down payment on our camp. Thanks, kids!!

Everybody has issues. Not everybody has good coping mechanisms.

Some variant of that.

It's odd, but I only know of three couples who have gotten divorced that could be considered our friends.

You're a doctor. You should prepare thine ani.
