I quite honestly do not. And I'm curious if committee members have noted the change.
But I am always interested in cultural dynamics. There are restaurants around town that tend to draw a low class crowd, euphemistically speaking. It seems to be largely tied to the Instagram-worthiness of the interior. If there are dramatic backdrops or neon signs that say "Hello Sunshine!" or some BS and sweet alcoholic drinks. Price of the food does NOT filter out the lower classes (shocking to me) And once a crowd sways too far in "that" direction, there is no getting back white clientele. Which is usually when you start seeing dress codes being enforced such as "no sports jerseys" or "no slides" or some such that is racially coded and and everyone knows why they do it.

We took the kids last week. Go early.
The booths and kid stuff in the convention center opens @ 9AM. The fair opens at 11AM. Plan on leaving by 2PM before the environment changes….
But to the OP’s point: no matter what the OT Moderates tell you, the Houston Rodeo has changed quite a bit in the last 15 years. The ratio of clean respectable families used to be 80-90% when I first went in 2008. Now it’s 50/50 or worse depending on the time of day and who’s scheduled for the concert that night.

They must be taking ebt....

no EBT. At all the vendors I saw it was credit/debit only

I first went to the Houston rodeo when I was in college in 2005. The carnival portion has always been pretty ghetto as far as I can remember. That’s not new.

?? Concerts are at night.

correct. I’m referencing the fair and livestock show that takes during the day before the concerts. The environment for the concerts is highly dependent on the artist.
eta: if you’re planning on going ALL day, I would suggest leaving to go get an early dinner, drinks, and cool off before heading back to the concerts.

Most of the events black folks have for themselves get turned to shite so out of supply and demand, they are looking for other places to go do stuff.

Do they have Juicy Seafood concession stand?

I mean, it isn't a "white" only event. I love the diversity of people who can act correctly. Now, twerking on top of vehicles would probably make me think twice.

didn’t see one, but also wasn’t looking.
I did notice “Mama Tina’s Gumbo”. Not sure even if I had an appetite for gumbo in sunny 85 degree weather, I’d trust a Mama Tina to pull of gumbo.

Well, NRG is located right in the middle of the Houston ghetto.
NRG is not in a ghetto
Sunnyside is the closest ghetto and that is a few miles away to the SE across the Loop

Furthermore, the rodeo has been pushing the DEI narrative for years now. It is part of the reason it sucks now.
they have a Black Heritage Day and a Go Tejano Day and every other act is rock or country
so having one day each for two cultures is pretty much the opposite of DEI

We were in Houston last weekend for the WBC and there was a group of queens at our hotel. They were dressed in rhinestone cowgirl shite from head to toe. It was a sight to withhold.

Houston has a lot of upper-middle class Black people. It’s listed as one of the “Black Mecca” cities on Wikipedia.
go out to eat on a Fri/Sat night or go eat brunch on a sunday in the city of houston and prepare to be the minority in the restaurant
the suburbs are where the white people hang out
